Aspirations

The James this time feels a distinctive difference in his perceptions of the world.

I think I am beginning to learn for myself how to see things on a wider perspective now. Probably I have not attain the masterly worldly level of skills and gain the abilities to criticise about global issues yet, but I believe that i'm now able to see the Singapore society better and clearer. The bottom 20% of households in terms of income, the problems they face, the sensitive and fragile ethnic ratios, the woes of the middle-income, polically apathetic youths, community problems, Singapore's foreign relations, and many more are a few of many pressing problems faced by the society needing to be resolved which just appeared more apparent to me this year.

I went to the MOE Scholarship seminar conducted by the MOE in their Ministry building today. This, coupled with an earlier Public Service Commission (PSC) Scholarship talk held in RJC by the PSC, has aided me carve my future path out for my life after RJC. I have decided. Though i want to bring myself and my family out of the poverty cycle, i shall not aim to start my own business empire at the expense of others' cash.

Definitely, we need more future pillars of the society to make the crucial decision to stand and rise up to these challenges mentioned in the second paragraph. I may not be up to the task, but I hereby make a committment to attempt to enrich myself with the necessary skills so that i may serve the nation diligently in the future. I will aspire to be the next PSC scholar of Singapore and a future young changemaker in the civil service!

May God bless me in this extremely uphill mission. I will do my best.

And I will let go of whatever I think is not worth it to retain, because i ain't superman.
